In addition to the opportunities for service in our own community our
congregation has provided life-changing mission experiences for its
members as well. Seven people from the Emsworth U.P. Church have traveled
to the nation of Malawi
in Central Africa as
part of Pittsburgh Presbytery’s “Investment in Mission”
partnership with the Synod of Blantyre.
Emsworth U.P.Church
and a Church in Malawi, Ndirane C.C.A.P., enjoy a partner relationship
as part of “Investment In Mission.” One of our members spent nine months serving in Mulanje, Malawi as
a volunteer at a mission hospital.
We have a warm
relationship with Darren and Elizabeth Kennedy who are serving on
the faculty of a seminary in Egypt where they help
to train men and women who will serve as pastors.
A
portion of our mission giving goes to Dr. Sue Maken (photo to right),
our missionary serving in Malawi. Sue has a special concern for the
women and children of that land and has begun a number of projects
which are designed to reduce the infant mortality rate and to detect
cancer in Malawian women early.
We also support
the work of the Emmanuel Hospital Association in India.
This organization is controlled and staffed by Indian Christians,
most of whom are young doctors and medical professionals who are committed
to serving the porest and remote areas of northern India by meeting
their health needs and by introducing them to the Good News of Jesus
Christ.
We are committed to making God’s love in Christ known far and
wide.
